Full-Time, On Campus Expected Start July 1, 2023
Full-time, on-campus, tenure-track faculty position to teach undergraduate Criminal Justice and Legal Studies courses on campus within the School of Arts and Sciences. Teaching responsibilities are assigned by the Chair of the Department of Humanities and Social Science.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Teach courses in criminal justice and legal studies according to graduate training and experience. Classes may include Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminology, American Constitutional Law, and other criminal justice and legal studies courses. A normal teaching load is 24 credits each year.
Advise students in the Criminal Justice and Legal Studies program.
Stay abreast of scholarly developments in specific and relevant fields as well as current teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and assessment.
Contribute to the field of criminal justice and/or the profession of college-level teaching.
Engage in general faculty responsibilities that include: Participation in department and faculty meetings, care of students, Crown College committee assignments, and at least 10 hours of scheduled office hours per week to be available to students.
Master’s level degree in criminal justice, legal studies, or a related field
Demonstrated teaching effectiveness
Work experience in criminal justice or law
Experience using computer technology in the teaching/learning process
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to the above minimum qualifications):
A PhD in Criminal Justice or related field
5+ years of full-time teaching experience, especially in Christian higher education
Familiarity and/or experience with standards and assessments
