Higher Ed Administrative Careers - Presidents/Chancellors
Position Description: The President is the Chief Executive Officer of the College and Seminary, reporting to the Board of Trustees and responsible for providing leadership to the Institution. The President is a member of all committees of the Board of Trustees.
Qualifications: 1. Be an evangelical Christian with a personal commitment to Reformed principles as expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith. 2. Have an earned graduate degree and/or extensive experience in his or her field. 3. Be a proven leader with a record of vision and achievement in higher education or in a field analogous to higher education. 4. Have a commitment to and a working knowledge of the integration of faith and learning in a Christian liberal arts setting where academic inquiry is encouraged. 5. Be an effective speaker and writer, capable of articulating a unifying vision to a wide variety of constituencies. 6. Have the ability to inspire students to achieve their full potential and to develop their minds and spirits. 7. Be a sound decision maker. 8. Have a demonstrated record of managing organizational change and creating an environment of innovation and excellence. 9. Be an effective and successful fundraiser for the college and seminary. 10. Preferred: Have experience in a Christian liberal arts college environment as a student, professor, administrator, or trustee.
Responsibilities: 1. Implement Board policies, attain goals adopted by Board resolution, and execute all documents as directed by the Board. 2. Recruit, appoint, and remove deans and other administrative officers. 3. Develop and actively engage in an effective fundraising program

The mission of Erskine College is to equip students to flourish by providing an excellent liberal arts education in a Christ-centered environment where learning and biblical truth are integrated to develop the whole person. Therefore, Erskine seeks candidates for faculty positions who are professing Christians and who are committed to excellence in teaching and service. They should support the goals of a strong liberal arts education and be willing to explore with students the integration of faith and learning.
Erskine’s tradition of excellence in liberal arts higher education goes back nearly 175 years to its founding in 1839 by the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, making it one of the oldest, most respected church-affiliated colleges in the Southeast.
Our alumni lead businesses and organizations both large and small throughout the world. More than half of Erskine’s graduates go on to some type of graduate education. In fact in the past several years nearly 100% of all graduates applying to medical graduate programs were accepted, and several proceeded directly into top tier Ph.D. programs. However, our mission moves us beyond simply producing competent professionals.... We seek to equip the whole person — intellectually, physically and spiritually — to flourish in life and leadership.
To do this, we see Erskine as both an excellent liberal arts college and a close-knit community. Erskine College is located in the academic village of Due West in Abbeville County, South Carolina, an area rich in colonial, Revolutionary War, and Civil War history. The town and the college have a number of antebellum buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Erskine College is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a Baccalaureate–Arts & Sciences institution with selective admissions. Erskine is an NCAA Division II institution and a member of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).
