In Spring of 2020, President, Joel Wiggins informed the Crown Community that he would not be seeking another term and that he would be retiring in June 2021, so that he and his wife could be closer to their family. The Board of Trustees formed a Search Committee and began a search in early Summer. In March the Board of Trustees named Dr. Andrew Denton as the President Elect, he will begin his tenure this coming July.
Crown Today and in the Future: As Crown moves into its next chapter, the college community is eager to welcome an academic leader who will pursue measured, strategic change consistent with institutional mission, growth plans, and future educational needs.
Crown has 46 On-Campus and 15 Online Undergraduate Degrees. They also have 10 Online Graduate Degrees and 18+ unique Programs and Initiatives with Churches and other Academic Institutions, just to name a few. With an 18:1 Student to Faculty Ratio there is an emphasis on relationship, community and discipleship. Crown College has 16 NCAA Division III Athletics Teams.
History and Context: Crown College began as a small Bible College in Saint Paul, Minnesota in 1916. For over 100 years, Crown has focused on preparing students to live out their faith in the world. Now located 40 minutes west of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Crown offers on-campus, online, and graduate degree programs. The community supports 16 NCAA Division III athletic teams and summer outreach programs around the globe. Though a lot has changed, the dedication to helping students grow in their faith has not. The institution’s programs deeply integrate a Christian worldview into every class, helping students to become all that God desires for them to be. Crown looks forward to the next 100 years through continued innovation in Christian higher education.

Responsibilities of the Vice President for Academic Affairs
Advise the President on academic policies, structure, programs, personnel, and operations
Ensure adherence to state and federal regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and other professional standards impacting academic quality
Provide oversight and support to academic departments in maintaining quality, continued programmatic improvement, and overall operational efficiencies; establish processes and measures for academic effectiveness; monitor progress toward established annual and long-term goals
Oversee faculty hiring, orientation, in-service training, and enrichment activities; promote and encourage faculty professional development, involvement in professional associations, and contributions to the disciplinary field
Prepare annual academic budget and ensure appropriate resource allocation for academic initiatives and programming in line with goals and strategies approved by the Board of Trustees and President’s Cabinet
Oversee all academic policies and activities including faculty reviews, program reviews, accreditation, assessment, academic standards, curriculum changes and modifications, and creation of new academic programs
Align academic programming with mission, values, priorities, and long-term strategic goals of the college
Recruit, develop, and retain a faculty marked by ethnic and gender diversity across all academic fields and levels of leadership.
