Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, California invites applications for a full-time tenure-track teaching position in the area of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. Will provide instruction in the area of electrical engineering, general engineering and some physics courses, including moderation of classroom discussions, and grading of examinations. Position will be responsible for developing course structure and preparing course materials, including syllabi, homework assignments, laboratory assignments and handouts. Evaluates and grades students’ class work, assignments, lab reports and papers to ensure that they have a strong understanding of the subject matter. Oversees the maintenance of department laboratory equipment and supervise student lab assistants. Works strategically with diverse colleagues, students, parents and community members. Engages in personal scholarship and scholarship with students. Advises students academically, spiritually, and professionally. Participates in departmental activities and governance. Serves on university faculty committees/working groups and performs other normal faculty duties. Contributes to preparing students for their post graduate career and finding who they are called to be. Provides academic advisement and support to the personal development of our students. Conducts scholarship in discipline. Participate fully in the life, work and faculty governance of the University  Requires: A Ph.D. degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.  Demonstrated Christian faith, and active church involvement. Thorough commitment to the concept of Christian liberal arts education and a desire to work in a Christian university.  Supportive of the religious and educational goals of the university and its sponsoring denomination. Evidence of a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching required. Preferences: At least 6 months of experience: engineering curriculum development, including preparing course materials, syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts; preparing and delivering lectures; preparing & supervising laboratory activities; administering & grading examinations; teaching students from diverse backgrounds. Salary: $75,440 to $85,215 Annual. Additional compensation for summer duties may be offered if duties/funds are available.
