Job Overview
Reporting to the Associate Director of Prospect Research and Management, the Prospect Research and Management Specialist is responsible for providing prospect research and prospect management support and analysis. The Prospect Research and Management Specialist works on the research team to provide biographies, data and portfolio analysis, invitation lists, and other research needs for the Development office.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide research support that informs strategy for leadership including affinity and capacity analyses and other donor segmentation needs.
- In collaboration with other staff, create biographies for the President’s and the Vice President of Advancement, Vocation and Alumni Engagement’s visits.
- Provide support by fulfilling research requests from Regional Directors, including items such as biographical research, capacity analysis, and trip planning assistance.
- In collaboration with the Associate Director of Prospect Research and Management, assist with portfolio management for all relationship managers.
- Research new prospects for the Development Staff team.
- In collaboration with Regional Directors, manage all Foundation-related information and documentation needs that are not handled by the Academic Division and fall within approved Advancement fundraising priorities. This includes items such as proactive Foundation research, creating Foundation profiles, writing grant applications in coordination with RDs as requested, and documenting relevant Foundation materials in Ellucian CRM database and other campus filing systems as needed.
- Provide support in researching and compiling event invitation lists.
- Provide ongoing maintenance to the CRM prospect management system to ensure codes are up-to-date and perform regular audits of the data to ensure accuracy of information.
- Maintain an understanding of industry best practices in prospect research and contribute to a culture of compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Prior prospect research experience highly preferred.
- Two to three years’ experience in a research-related field/position preferred and/or five years’ experience in professional office setting.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and the professional standards set forth for the field by the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA).
- Ability to collaboratively initiate and manage complex projects with multiple team members.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize complex tasks with multiple deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, synthesize, and clearly report on a high volume of information.
- Capacity to work across organizational boundaries.
- Strong computer and writing skills.
- Interest in growing in the field of development.
Physical Requirements
