Redeemer University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biology beginning in July 2022. Candidates must be aligned with and passionate about Redeemer’s Christian mission of integrating faith in teaching and research. Candidates should possess, or be near completion of, a PhD and have a research program and accomplishments appropriate to their career stage. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record (or show potential) of excellence in undergraduate teaching.
Responsibilities
The applicant will teach courses that serve the Biology and Environmental Science Programs situated in the Natural Sciences and Mathematics Area. We are seeking an applicant with an academic and research background in ecology and plant science.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
- An ability and desire to teach a wide variety of courses in areas such as introductory biology, ecology/field biology and plant biology.
- An interest in supervising students doing senior research projects.
- An ability and desire to do research in an ecology-related field.
- An interest in teaching in Redeemer’s liberal arts and sciences core program.
- An interest in continuing to foster our ongoing relationship with A Rocha (Ontario) and other local agencies (e.g. the Royal Botanical Garden).
Applicants should submit a letter of application, C.V., evidence of teaching quality, a 1-2-page statement describing their own Christian faith commitment and how it relates to Redeemer’s mission and to their teaching and perspective on the discipline, and the names of three individuals who have agreed to provide letters of reference should the applicant advance to a later stage of the process.
