The School of Arts & Humanities at Milligan University invites applications for the full-time, tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre. This is a nine-month faculty position (paid over 12 months) with an anticipated start in August 2024.
Primary teaching responsibilities will include applied voice, musical theatre history and repertory, and direction of productions. Other teaching duties may include core music curriculum classes, vocal pedagogy, vocal diction, and a summer arts camp. Additional responsibilities will include recruiting high-quality students locally and regionally, establishing mutually beneficial relationships with school and community theatre programs, maintaining a successful performing career on and off campus, and exhibiting a collegial spirit in collaborating with music and theatre faculty to produce department-wide concerts and theatrical productions that advance the mission of the University.
Qualifications: Candidates should have a record of professional performing experience in musical theatre and as a soprano, mezzo soprano, or alto. Candidates should also demonstrate an extensive knowledge of the musical theatre repertory and the professional theatre world in addition to teaching experience in classical voice and in coaching and directing musical theatre. Musical proficiency at the keyboard is preferred. Applicants must have an MA, MM, MFA, DMA, or PhD, with a specialization in Musical Theatre. A commitment to integrating faith and learning in a liberal arts environment is essential. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong Christian faith, commitment to the University mission, and a lifestyle consistent with the University’s goals.
