The Department of Art and Design at Huntington University welcomes applications for a tenure track position as Assistant Professor of Visual Art – Graphic Design.
This appointment is full-time, with salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. An MFA, and professional or college-level teaching experience is preferred. Expertise and skill is highly desirable in one or more of the following areas: graphic design, web design, visual communication, and photography. Applicants should demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational skills and a desire to educate young artists with passion and effectiveness. An ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of the current practice and theory in graphic design and be proficient in industry-standard print and web design software. Primary responsibilities include teaching courses in graphic design, web design, visual communication, and photography, and mentoring graphic design students in practicum and internship experiences. Other duties include advising students, curriculum development, recruitment, and serving on university committees. Continued artistic production and exhibition is encouraged. The successful candidate will also maintain studio spaces, inventory department equipment and supplies, and assist in the supervision of the department digital computer and print lab.
