The Department of Biology at Westmont College invites applications for a tenure-track teaching and research position as an assistant professor in a dynamic department with inquisitive, talented, and diverse undergraduate students. An earned PhD at the time of appointment is required, and post-doctoral research experience is preferred.
We seek candidates in either of the following areas of disciplinary specialty: (1) plant ecology and evolution, conservation biology, and/or restoration ecology or (2) cellular and molecular biology.
Teaching assignments for (1) could include an introductory biology course, Plant Ecology/Classification, and Conservation Biology; a strong interest in programmatic involvement in our growing interdisciplinary environmental studies program is also desirable.
Teaching assignments for (2) could include an introductory biology course, Cell Biology, and an upper-division course in an area of disciplinary focus.
Candidates should be prepared to pursue a robust research program that will engage undergraduate students both during the semester as well as in a 10-week summer research experience. Westmont College expects full-time faculty to support its mission as a Christian liberal arts college in the evangelical Protestant tradition.
