Job Description:
General Summary: Provides leadership, supervision and management for undergraduate admissions to achieve university undergraduate enrollment goals outlined in SPU's strategic plan. Enrollment goals include head count, admit rate, academic quality indicators, diversity goals, gender balance, geographic goals, etc. Accountable to support SPU Mission and Core Themes.
Responsible to create an office culture that reflects the ideals of the SPU community and develop the ability of the staff to find and proactively recruit students that want to be a part of the SPU learning community.
Ability to lead and guide a racially and ethnically diverse staff to build a department aware of and sensitive to issues of racism and injustice and to provide an equitable environment for all staff to thrive. Demonstrated passion for and experience working with prospective students and constituents from diverse backgrounds through cultural competence and awareness, and ability to train staff to excel in recruiting racially and ethnically diverse students.
In coordination with the VP for Enrollment Management and Marketing, develops the undergraduate annual recruitment plan, identifies the long-term and annual goals for undergraduate admissions, and develops and maintains a plan for new inquiry "search" methods, systems and approaches.
Collaborates closely with the Associate VP of University Communications, Enrollment Operations, and Enrollment Communications teams to implement and measure the annual strategy for UG admissions operations, communications, and marketing efforts.
Responsible for undergraduate new student selection including student fit, enrollment goals and communication that provides exceptional service to students and families.
In partnership with University Communications, provide the primary UG admissions input and carry responsibility for achieving UG enrollment goals while developing marketing collateral and enrollment related communications. Will be expected to be the primary participant in cross-team working groups on UG enrollment related marketing and communications.
Maintaining a key territory would be an essential part of this role. The Director needs to stay in close contact with students and families so this will be an expectation to manage a targeted territory and maintain travel to that territory.
Responsible for the effective and efficient functioning of the undergraduate admissions staff, developing metrics to monitor admissions goals. Provides inspiring leadership to UG Admissions team through staff selection, development and training, and evaluation through regular meetings and communication that upholds a positive and healthy team environment. Provides challenging opportunities and delegation of responsibilities for staff to develop skills and apply creativity to the admissions process.
Provides leadership for the awarding of scholarships to new students. Collaborates with Student Financial Services to create procedures to support the annual strategy and manages the process of selection, awarding, and communication.
Works closely to implement the university's messages for new student publications, advertising, and other marketing strategies focused on new students.
Coordinates the development of strategic partnerships with departmental leaders in alumni, advancement, and athletics to shape recruitment activities and messages.
Works collaboratively with fundraising staff and Alumni office to achieve institutional goals in regional areas as outlined in strategic plan. Collaborates closely with University Communications to partner in the development and implementation of University marketing and communications strategy.
Leverages SPU's enterprise-wide constituent relationship management (CRM) system to help achieve UG enrollment goals. Provides leadership for consistent messaging across multiple software platforms - Slate CRM, Common Application, web, vendors, etc., making sure the integrated systems work and produce efficiencies for UGA, and ensuring we are speaking coherently to various audiences. Maintains relationships with third party vendors for strategic services, e.g., Common Application, etc.
Requirements:
Masters degree or working towards completion of a master's degree.
Five years of progressively responsible experience in university enrollment with five years of supervisory experience.
Demonstrated marketing experience in higher education.
Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication; effective public speaking skills.
Interpersonal and team development skills for effective staff leadership and management; exceptional human relational skills. The ability to create effective partnerships/collaborations within the area and across the University. The ability to inspire staff to "catch the vision." Commitment to SPU's Christian mission.
Excellent proactive planning, organizational and project management skills.
Effective resource management. .
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Undergraduate or Master's degree from an institution that integrates faith and learning, a plus.
Education in marketing or related industry experience.
Experience in Christian higher education.
Professional experience in an enrollment management model.
Effective use of re-engineering/total quality management principles.
Experience with presentation software.
Additional Information:
Position will remain open until filled.Application review will be extended into June 2023, with a summer 2023 start date for our new Director of Undergraduate Admissions.
Salary: $90,000 - $97,000 DOE
This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes contributions to an employee HSA account and to a retirement account after one year of eligibility in the plan. Tuition discount program available for the employee and qualified immediate family members.
