Position Summary

The Buntain College of Nursing (BCON) Online MSN Academic Program Lead oversees curriculum development and evaluation, student advising, faculty acquisition, and coordinates program improvement for the online MSN program offered by the BCON that is delivered by College of Online and Extended Education (COEE). 

The Online MSN Academic Program Lead is a full-time BCON faculty appointment eligible for tenure and promotion that also includes teaching responsibilities in the BSN prelicensure program. The BCON dean oversees the Academic Program Lead’s professional development as a faculty member, teaching in the BCON, curriculum development work, and faculty acquisition. The Academic Program Lead reports directly to the BCON dean. The Academic Program?Lead serves as a liaison from the BCON to COEE. The?Academic Program Lead works closely with COEE for the purpose of?curriculum?development and oversight,?faculty acquisition, faculty development,?and program assessment.? 

Faculty contracts are usually issued on a 12-month basis by the provost, at the discretion of the dean and provost. The workload is established based on the assigned responsibilities to COEE and BCON.? 

Essential Functions

Center for Online Learning and Extended Education responsibilities include: 

• Program curriculum oversight and assessment for the host college’s courses and programs offered through COEE. 
• Oversight and final approval of all faith integration assignments—in collaboration with the College of Ministry Program Lead. 
• Course development or revision as assigned. 
• Coordination of course developers and revisors for courses from the host college. 
• Faculty recruitment, vetting, and development in cooperation with the deans of the host college and COEE; and 
• Scheduled applicable meetings with COEE personnel.  

Buntain College of Nursing responsibilities include: 

Provide leadership for: 

• Provision of overall program supervision and coordination. 
• Formulation of specific goals and objectives for program curriculum. 
• Implementation of the program. 
• Evaluation of the overall program. 

Supervise and Assume Responsibility for: 

• Implementing curriculum that is congruent with the philosophy and curriculum of the College of Nursing, e.g., syllabi content. 
• Interpreting and implementing guidelines, regulations, and policies as determined by county, state, and federal agencies. 
• Collaborating with the Dean of Nursing in maintaining accreditation to the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). 
• Evaluating adjunct faculty. 
• Coordinating and facilitating regular online program faculty meetings. 
• Screening, evaluating, and advising potential candidates and on-going advisement and file maintenance of admitted students. 
• Developing and implementing an online orientation for admitted students. 
• Maintaining records, files, and other related mandated federal and state documents of faculty, staff, and students. 
• Establishing and maintaining clinical agency affiliations in cooperation with the Dean of Nursing. 
• Acting as a liaison between program and clinical facilities and community partners. 
• Attend and participate in scheduled BCON faculty meetings and committees.  
• Attend and participate in university scheduled faculty meetings and assigned service work. 
• Teach courses offered in the BCON prelicensure program. 

Qualifications

1. Doctorate in Nursing or related field (master’s degree in related field and applicable experience considered) 
2. Demonstrated expertise in teaching and directing academic programs at the university level. 
3. Experience teaching and developing online and nontraditional courses. 
4. Effectively prioritize and organize multiple tasks to meet established deadlines. Analytical and very detail oriented.  
5. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and oral/written communication skills. 
6. Ability to multi-task, solve problems, and work well with a diverse student population. 
7. Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality when working with students, records, and personnel. 
8. Ability to communicate effectively, get along well with co-workers, and deal effectively and professionally with colleagues. 
9. Significant professional experience demonstrating a high standard of professionalism. 
10. Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment free of harassment, violence, and unlawful discrimination. 
11. Must hold or be eligible to hold an active and unencumbered registered nurse license in the State of Washington.  

Compensation

Based on education and experience, nursing faculty members with a doctorate start as an associate professor. The compensation range for an associate professor on a 12-month workload starts at $91,341 to a median of $99,999.
