The Natural Sciences & Mathematics Department at Toccoa Falls College invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the field of Biology or Ecology starting August 1, 2023. The department is seeking an individual who is a motivated Christian servant with a passion and background in Ecology & Environmental Science to be a valuable member of the teaching faculty at Toccoa Falls College. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in the areas of Ecology & Environmental Science to support students in the Biology: Ecology & Environmental Science concentration major. Specialized classes in this concentration include Aquatic Biology & Wetlands, Soil Science, Conservation & Restoration Ecology, and Environmental Issues & Policy. Based on the applicant’s background and experience, other subject areas could include introductory Biology courses, Cell Biology, Genetics, or Evolutionary Biology, which also support the Biology degrees offered by Toccoa Falls College.
TASKS:
Faculty are required to prepare outstanding college/university-level learning experiences in the assigned Biology courses each semester using teaching tools such as demonstrations, discussions, reading assignments, PowerPoint presentations, etc. as well as effective laboratory exercises. Faculty must carefully plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction to optimize student learning. Faculty must also be able to provide feedback to students about their performance on class assignments in a respectful manner to help them improve their understanding, retention, and application of course content.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
Applicant must be a spiritually mature Christian in agreement with the college statement of faith and committed to the vision, mission, and values of Toccoa Falls College.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
The ideal candidate will hold a doctoral degree in Biology, Ecology, or an advanced degree in a related field. Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level is highly desirable. Candidates with a Master’s degree and relevant experience are also invited to apply. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
