The Communication Department at Simpson University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Communication position with an emphasis in the design and technical skills related to Digital Media beginning fall 2023. The successful candidate should possess mastery of the Adobe® Suite package, including InDesign®, Photoshop®, and Premiere®, along with any other technology required to produce content directly related to the production of Digital Media. The ability to create/write code is a critical requirement. Candidates should be prepared to teach General Education communication courses (e.g. Oral Communication), digital media courses, upper-division courses in writing for multiple media platforms, and other courses in the area of his or her expertise.
MFA in digital arts, Ph.D., or other appropriate terminal degree is preferred. Possession of an FAA approved Remote Pilot Certificate is also desirable. Evidence of teaching excellence, a promising research agenda and/or professional portfolio, and personal faith in Jesus Christ is also required. A commitment to the mission of a Christian liberal arts institution is essential.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Teach twelve (12) hours each semester;
Assist with curriculum and program development;
Advise, audit, and mentor students;
Hold a minimum of five (5) office hours per week for students;
Attend department meetings and professional development activities:
Ensure the timely completion of assessments, grades, and other reports.
