Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) is an intentionally Christian teaching university for traditional age students, graduate students, and working adults who seek opportunities to learn and grow in an academic community of faith. Mount Vernon Nazarene University seeks a full-time (eleven-month) Clinical Psychologist (PsyD) Program Developer and Director, beginning immediately. This position reports to the Dean of the School of Natural and Social Sciences. Rank will be Associate or Full Professor, commensurate with experience. Compensation will be competitive with institutions within the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. A full complement of benefits is provided, including a health care plan, retirement contributions, and tuition assistance (self and dependents).
Responsibilities include:
Developing curriculum for a doctoral (PsyD) program in Clinical Psychology
Hiring of competent, mission fit, qualified faculty members to teach and advise in a Clinical Psychology doctoral program
Overseeing administrative operations of our doctoral program (PsyD) program in Clinical Psychology, including scheduling of courses and instructors
Collaborating with the VP of Graduate and Professional Studies, the Office of Admissions, and the Marketing department to support recruitment of new students
Assuming primary responsibility for pursuing and maintaining APA accreditation, including writing the program self-study and arranging the APA site visits
Teaching a broad range of graduate courses within the field of Clinical Psychology
Supervising graduate students in the development and completion of independent research projects
Evaluating student clinical competencies
Identifying and resolving graduate student issues
Serving the University through committee participation and other assigned tasks
Qualifications for the successful candidate:
Evangelical Christian confession of faith and experience is required; Church of the Nazarene membership preferred
Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology
Licensure as a Psychologist
Evidence of effective graduate-level instruction and research supervision
Demonstrated skills in management of academic programming preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Commitment to inclusivity and diversity
Proven ability to work collaboratively with others
