Charleston Southern University invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Aeronautics. Applicants will administer undergraduate courses in a 100% asynchronous, online environment. Part-time adjuncts are contracted term-by-term based on course/section need and availability.
Charleston Southern seeks candidates who are professing Protestant Christians, committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. They should support the goals of a strong liberal arts education and be willing to explore with students the integration of faith and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teach a maximum of two online sections of Flight Safety, Aviation Weather, Air Traffic Management, Airport Management, Aviation Regulation, Aviation Law, and/or Applied Aviation Research, per semester, based on departmental need. All courses are taught asynchronously, online. Applicants must be qualified to teach at least one course listed. This position is 100% remote.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Required Skills and Attributes
Candidate must possess the ability to work with a diverse group of students. Experience teaching at college level in distance learning format is preferred. Experience with the Blackboard Learning Management System is preferred. Preferred industry experience in aviation, the aerospace industry, or closely related military equivalent.
Education
Master’s or Ph.D. in Aviation, Aeronautics, Air Traffic Control, or closely related field, and/or extensive professional military or commercial aviation experience. Candidate with a master’s degree in another discipline must have taken a minimum of 18 hours of aviation-related graduate coursework or demonstrated relevant work experience in the aviation field.
Experience
Preference will be given to those candidates with prior college teaching experience and/or aviation-related instruction. Experience administering online curriculum through Blackboard is highly desired.
