Mount Vernon Nazarene University is seeking a full-time (nine month) Mathematics or Mathematics Education Faculty Member, beginning in the Fall semester of 2025. Rank is Assistant Professor or higher. Compensation is competitive among the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. A full complement of benefits is provided, including a health care plan, retirement contributions and tuition assistance (self and dependents).
Responsibilities and expectations for this position include:
Teaching a broad range of undergraduate mathematics courses. Teaching assignments are expected to range from general education courses to upper-level courses for Mathematics majors dependent on the candidate’s area of expertise. Teaching load will be approximately 12 credit hours per semester.
Advising of students majoring in Mathematics or Mathematics Education and ensuring that their academic progress meets requirements set by the institution, as well as working with students to encourage professional development.
Supporting departmental efforts for continued improvement of programs.
Serving the University through committee participation.
Evangelical Christian statement of faith, experience, and mission fit.
Personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
Understanding and alignment of the heritage, doctrine, and practices of the Church of the Nazarene.
A doctoral degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education is preferred; candidates holding a master’s degree in mathematics with experience will be considered.
A strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching in a liberal art setting and a commitment to scholarship and continued professional development.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, a demonstrable track record in successful teaching, and proven ability to work effectively with others.
