Your Role: As the Director of Endowments and Gift Planning, you will:
Build and steward relationships with donors who support the university through endowments and estate planning, increasing our bequest pipeline and endowment contributions.
Lead the university's planned giving strategy, offering expertise in estate planning, deferred gift vehicles, and compliance with Federal and State regulations.
Manage a portfolio of donors capable of making major planned and endowment gifts.
Oversee new endowments, ensuring compliance and alignment with university standards.
Design and execute strategic marketing initiatives to promote planned giving and endowment support.
Collaborate with key stakeholders, including major gift officers and Advancement staff, to integrate planned giving strategies.
Supervise and mentor gift planning team members, fostering professional growth and excellence.
Requirements:
Who You Are: You're an experienced professional with a passion for philanthropy and a heart for meaningful connections. You bring:
Expertise: A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and at least 5 years of experience in gift planning or estate planning, with a solid grasp of tax laws and planned giving vehicles. A JD with estate planning specialization is a plus.
Leadership Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills to engage diverse constituencies.
Mission Driven: Passionate about supporting SPU's mission. Candidates must be aligned with the University's mission and values, and be willing to accept the lifestyle standards of the community.
Flexibility: The ability to travel within the United States and work effectively in a hybrid setting. (Home residence needs to be in the state of Washington.)
Additional Information:
Salary: $110,000 - $118,000 DOE
Position expected to start July 1, 2025
This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes generous contributions to an employee HSA account and a 7% contribution to a retirement account, for eligible employees, with immediate vesting in the plan. Tuition discount program (50% - 90%) available for the employee and qualified immediate family members.
