Position Summary: The Vice President of Advancement is responsible for providing leadership and coordination of all advancement and alumni-relations functions.
Preference will be given to individuals who have a proven record of advancement success in Christian higher education and who have some degree of theological education or experience in a biblically orthodox, evangelical context. The successful candidate will both understand and value the cultural role of evangelical Christian higher education, and he or she will understand the importance of Warner University in central Florida and beyond. The chosen candidate must affirm and support the university’s Statement of Faith. The chosen candidate must be energetic about the university’s goal of distinguishing itself in the higher-education industry through commitment to historic biblical values.
Responsibilities:
Oversee and provide leadership to the Advancement department.
Provide strategic direction and leadership in developing and implementing a comprehensive development plan that includes corporate and foundation relations, donor research, major gifts, planned and capital giving, prospect management, donor stewardship, and alumni relations.
Work closely with both the President and marketing personnel to accurately communicate organizational vision and identity.
Collaborate with other university divisions to assist in the achievement of academic and student- development goals, initiatives, standards, policies, and procedures.
Develop and manage the Advancement budget.
Serves as the principle architect for comprehensive advancement campaign efforts.
Broaden and personalize the institution’s relationships with alumni and friends while identifying new philanthropic and major-gift prospects.
Collaborate with the Advancement and Admissions committee of the Board of Trustees to identify and cultivate new donors.
Work closely with Advancement staff to coordinate and execute donor events throughout the year.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Excitement about Warner University’s vision, mission, and identity as an institution committed to biblical orthodoxy
A minimum of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree; master’s degree preferred
Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience in public speaking
Experience with a donor database, preferably Raiser’s Edge
An energetic and relational disposition that puts others at ease
Strong attention to detail
Event-management experience
Strong organization skills
The ability to lead others in the coordination of projects
Other:
Overnight travel will be required as needed and approved by the Vice President of Advancement.
Annual fundraising and donor-relation goals will be determined in consultation with the President.
The chosen candidate should expect to dress professionally and appropriately for various development contexts.

History: Warner University was founded in 1968 by the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana, as a liberal arts, co-educational, Christian university. The campus was built on 300 acres donated by Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Holland. The first commencement took place in 1972 with four graduates. Warner’s third President, Dr. David A. Hoag, was inaugurated in the fall of 2016. He is preceded in leadership by only two others; Dr. Gregory V. Hall (1991–2016) and Dr. Leroy Fulton (1968–1991).
