Faculty & Director, Global Health and Development Program
The Business Department at Messiah University invites applications for a full-time term tenure track faculty member and Director of the Global Health and Development program. Rank is open and will be determined based on qualifications. This may be a 9-month or 10-month position.
Responsibilities: The Director of Global Health and Development (GHD), Assistant/Associate Professor of Global Development will have the primary responsibility of developing and leading the GHD major, minor, and certificate program. The Director will establish a program that attracts new students and extends Messiah’s mission globally as students are prepared to serving locally and around the world. The Director is responsible for developing the curriculum; teaching courses in the program; working with Enrollment to recruit and retain students; working with the Provost’s Office and Advancement to cultivate donor support; identify and develop international partnerships for internships and research sites; and direct an international symposium. The Director will report to the Assistant Dean of Business (ADB). Specific responsibilities of the Director include the following:
Administrative
Report to and consult on a regular basis with the appropriate study abroad offices at Messiah University to help students prepare for international internship experiences.
Develop and maintain relationships with organizations that are appropriate internship sites for students.
Travel to two internship sites per year.
Advise GHD major, minor, and certificate students.
Attend Department of Business meetings.
Develop and advise a GHD Club or coordinate two GHD events per semester.
Act as a champion for the GHD major for recruitment and engagement of alumni.
Provide institutional service for the Department and University as needed.
Provide oversight of GHD internships (includes travel to some sites).
Ensures that the curriculum meets accreditation standards.
Works with the Coordinator of Business Assessment and ADB to collect and review student-learning assessment.
Teaching
Is a ranked faculty member in the Business Department.
Teaches five or six courses per academic year.
Qualifications: Doctoral degree in related field. ABD will be considered. 1-5 years of teaching experience in a college or university setting is preferred.
The Program: Messiah’s ACBSP-accredited Department of Business is the School of Arts, Culture and Society’s largest department (www.messiah.edu/departments/business). Home to seven strong business majors and the International Business Institute, the Department provides a very collegial environment in which to teach and to conduct other scholarly work. There are currently 10 full-time faculty members in the department.

The coursework for most of our Undergraduate programs is conducted primarily in person with occasional online coursework.
