POSITION SUMMARY:
Mid-America University seeks a full-time Nursing faculty member with in-person and online teaching experience for undergraduate courses in the areas of OB, Pediatrics, ICU, Medical Surgical Nursing, ER, and ICU. Attend and participate in departmental meetings, school functions, and serve on college committees and Nursing Committees as required. A successful applicant will possess a strong commitment to MACU’s mission and Christian faith.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach courses on-ground within the School of Nursing as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
Primary teaching duties in the area of expertise.
Develop nursing courses including necessary laboratory components in the areas of the candidate’s expertise.
Develop and/or follow the department’s course syllabi, grading assignment rubrics, attendance records, and maintain/update lab materials as assigned.
Substitute for absent clinical instructors at clinical sites when necessary.
Support other full-time faculty with preparations and maintenance of lab supplies
Respond and effectively communicate with the co-chairs on a regular basis
Work with the Lab Manager to schedule any missed lab assignments for students with school-sponsored events
Maintain proficiency in lab procedures for all assigned Nursing labs and Simulations.
Available to teach courses in the time slots needed to support the goals of the University
Other pertinent duties as assigned by the School of Science and Math
QUALIFICATIONS and EDUCATION:
Master's degree or above
Faculty could enter with a BSN if enrolled in a Masters program and able to earn a minimum of six graduate-level credits per year (January to December). A faculty mentor/lead instructor is required for this scenario.
Registered Nurse holding a valid, non-restricted license to practice in the State of Oklahoma.
Minimum of one year of nursing work experience.
Strong foundation and practical knowledge in various nursing areas, as indicated by the courses to be taught.
Ability to adapt teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles.
Flexible schedule, which may include nights and weekends.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
EXPERIENCE:
Teaching experience in Nursing; preferred experience in various teaching delivery formats.
Demonstrated effective experience working with a diverse student population.
Mentoring and advising incoming students seeking entry into Nursing programs.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Web conferencing (e.g. Zoom, Google Meet).
Simulation Lab experience preferred.
Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, D2L).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds (11.34 kilograms).
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
