Huntington University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Biology at the Assistant or Associate rank. The successful applicant would serve as the department’s Pre-Med advisor and would teach courses in human anatomy and physiology, organismal biology, and additional courses within the applicant’s area of expertise. This position begins in August 2025 and will remain open until filled.
Candidates must have a strong personal faith in Jesus Christ and support Huntington’s mission as an evangelical Christian liberal arts university. Candidates should possess a vibrant commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and demonstrate the ability to integrate their faith with their discipline.
The Department of Biology is housed in the well-equipped Dowden Science Hall. Recent purchases related to anatomy and physiology include an Anatomage 9 table and a new fleet of student microscopes. The pursuit of a research program involving undergraduate students is highly encouraged and is supported with dedicated research laboratory space and internal research funding opportunities. The Department of Biology works closely with the Departments of Agribusiness, Chemistry, Kinesiology, Nursing, and Occupational Therapy, and encourages interdisciplinary service and research projects.

Ph.D. in biology (ABD considered), with specific experience in an area related to human biology, physiology, or animal organismal biology. Secondary experiences with genetics, cellular biology, and/or microbiology are considered as strengths.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching both science majors and non-majors, combined with an ability to use creative pedagogical techniques to engage students.
Commitment to developing and growing our biology pre-med program through mentoring undergraduates and promoting related student organizations and activities.
Interest in pursuing research and other forms of scholarly work that involve undergraduate students.
Ability to work collaboratively with others in a variety of settings
