Reporting Relationship: Vice President for Academic Affairs
Summary Description:The Teaching Dean of Business reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and holds a joint appointment of 50% teaching load and 50% administrative load. In this way, administrative work is grounded in the teaching and learning perspective. Administratively the position serves at the Academic Leader for the Business department and guides work in curriculum, staffing of courses, mentorship of part time faculty, and forges partnerships with the external community. In addition to adjuncts, there are 2 other full time Business professors.
Current Academic Environment: The university seeks a Teaching Dean of Business who is a senior level administrator with administrative responsibility for a Christ-centered university, mission alignment, working with deans/faculty on general curriculum and academic programs for enrollment growth, dean/faculty evaluation, budget management, hiring and general faculty and accreditation matters in alignment with the university’s “Strategic Plan” approved in April 2024:
Warner Pacific University is a non-tenured faculty environment with its nearly 24~ FT faculty serving on annual renewable contracts. (The majority of faculty members are adjunct.) The university is a Christ-centered university and is 1 of 4 Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) universities. The university is in covenant agreement the Church of God and is mission-aligned on theological positions expressed through www.chog.org. Currently, the University’s top 3 academic programs are Nursing, Business and Education. The University’s enrollment is approximately 615~students which includes approximately 100 Traditional (residential) 250 Traditional (commuter) and the remaining 300~ are Adult and Professional Graduate Students.

To this end, the University is seeking to become a full member of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities. www.cccu.org and has entered into a partnership with Mid-American Christian University, a sister ChoG institution, to offer a far more focused and robust degree and curriculum offerings at Warner Pacific University while the institution continues to re-establish its Christian offerings: www.macu.edu The University will have a transformational academic leader to assist the university in creating a Christ-centered academic faculty providing robust academic programs for civic and sacred callings within a Christian 4-year university.
The university Teaching Dean of Business has primary responsibilities with the support of the VPAA, President and EVP/CFO for managing the university’s Business Division as the university seeks to increase enrollment and maintain no more than 70% of all employee salaries consuming revenue from enrollment. The university VPAA with the support of deans, President and EVP/CFO to continuously review and make decisions on degree programs that are mission-aligned and revenue generating, as well as, General Education curriculum revisions to be consistent with full-time membership within www.cccu.org Lastly, the VPAA will assist in ensuring “Chapel Participation,” which is outlined within the “Faculty Handbook.”
Primary Job Duties: The successful candidate must present strong evidence of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position, which include, but are not limited to:
Provide innovative, strategic, and collaborative leadership of the undergraduate/graduate business programs. Understand how to maximize enrollments in academic programs.
Design online delivery of educational programs.
Coordinate course offerings and schedules with academic programs across the university.
Understanding of marketing programs to promote strong enrollments.
Keep current on developments and research in business/technology education and facilitate relevant trainings for faculty.
Advocate for coherence of academic affairs and educational philosophy of Warner Pacific University.
Articulate academic affairs with the University’s Church of God heritage.
Engage faculty in continuous program evaluation to measure and increase effectiveness.
Develop continually improve and maintain a system of assessment of student progress.
Facilitate student information needs, respond to student issues, and take appropriate corrective actions.
Investigate requirements for accrediting agencies.
Supervise department staff and provide mentorship for adjunct faculty.
Develop and maintain partnerships with business in the metro area specifically giving attention to diverse business and entrepreneurial contacts and companies. Represent Warner Pacific University business programs at professional association meetings.
Work collegially with faculty, staff and students.
Understand and positively promote the university’s mission, core themes, vision and values.
Teach courses related to business, advise and teach other courses within areas of expertise, to include any of the following:
Social Entrepreneurship
Finance and Accounting
Organization and Leadership
Health Care Administration
Other areas of exceptional expertise capable of contributing to the growth and development of Warner Pacific’s program.
Contribute to the support and implementation of the University Strategic Plan.
Participate in Warner Pacific University professional development opportunities.
Adhere to University policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s in Business or related field.
University teaching experience at a 4-year university.
Minimum of 3 years teaching at 4-year university.
Administrative experience in higher education
Experience with online delivery of educational programs
Familiarity with state regulations, reporting, and operations.
Experience working with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate in Business or related field
Experience at an IACBE, ACBSP, or AACSB accredited institution.
Experience in preparing a national accreditation application.
Record of building productive relationships with business leaders and community partners.
Ability to teach effectively and mentor adult learners as well as traditional students.
Service in positions of leadership in professional organizations.
Experience in grant writing and administration.
Physical Demands – Work Environment: The position is located in a typical office environment. Professional/business casual attire is required.
