LeTourneau University is seeking an exceptional educator with a strong Christian faith to teach courses in Education with a preference for Reading, Curriculum and Instruction, and/or Learning Sciences on campus and online in a full-time, tenure-track faculty position. The successful candidate will be able to think creatively and critically about the essential role of education within the Christian Polytechnic University mission and provide leadership within the learning environment and campus culture of LeTourneau University.
This is a 9-month full-time, tenure-track position with a 12-credit teaching load per semester for the fall and spring semesters. Responsibilities may require flexible work hours that would include evenings, weekends, and occasional travel. Attendance is required at typical faculty and administrative meetings including graduation.
Primary Responsibilities
Teach a full-time load of undergraduate education courses, involving preparation of course materials and assessments
May supervise pre-service teachers in clinical settings
Participate actively in the University learning community, including committees, seminars, and department meetings
Connect with students through advising and success programs
Actively engage in retention and recruitment efforts of students
Maintain a commitment to academic scholarship in field of expertise
Qualifications
Genuine support of LeTourneau University's Faith Statement and Community Covenant and enthusiasm for integrating faith and learning in the classroom
An earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in education or a closely related field; a Master’s degree with teaching experience may be considered in a non-tenure-track instructor role
An ability to teach a wide range of education courses such as: science of teaching reading, differentiated instructional strategies for students with exceptionalities, and/or education methods courses for elementary and secondary levels
A valid Texas teacher certificate (or eligible to apply for a Texas teacher certificate) with a minimum of three years EC-12 public-school teaching experience
Proficiency in educational technology to steward best practices of emerging trends in EC-12 public and private schools
Knowledge of the Texas Education Agency (TEA) accreditation requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in effective preparation approaches including but not limited to: clinical experiences, quality observation and coaching cycles using the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS), mentor and candidate co-teaching structures, practice-based coursework, and district/educator preparation governance
Familiarity and/or intellectual contributions in Learning Science
Demonstrated experience working with programs leading to professional teaching certifications through state examinations
Demonstrated excellence in teaching using evidence-based research practices
Experience with EC-12 partnerships and clinical practice in teacher education
Experience teaching in multiple environments including hybrid, face-to-face, and online
