The Rosemead School of Psychology at Biola University invites applications for the position of Director of Clinical Training (DCT) to begin in August 2025. This key leadership role involves overseeing the clinical training of our PsyD and PhD doctoral students in Clinical Psychology. The DCT ensures that Rosemead doctoral students receive high-quality training experiences so that our students demonstrate the professional-wide competencies as set forth by the APA Standards of Accreditation and our program competencies of integrations of Christian Faith and psychology. The DCT serves as the professor of record for all practicum and internship courses, while also overseeing our students Professional Growth Experiences.
Essential Responsibilities - Oversee the Office of Professional Training (OPT) and supervise the associate director and administrative staff. - Coordinate and facilitate weekly training meetings and cohort-specific field training sessions. - Manage the practicum and internship placement process, including site visits, developing new training site relationships, and maintaining records. - Ensure sites’ compliance with the University's field training affiliation guidelines and APA accreditation standards. - Oversee the APA/APPIC internship application process and provide ongoing support to students in their practicum and internship placements.
Clinical Training and Student Support - Meet regularly with students to discuss their training goals and provide advisement on practicum and internship applications, including reviewing CVs, cover letters, and interview preparation. - Address any issues that arise during practicum or internship placements, collaborating with site supervisors and developing remediation plans as necessary. - Conduct site visits and maintain positive relationships with training sites to ensure the quality of student placements.
Teaching and Supervision - Teach six to nine units per year in the doctoral program, with the potential to teach courses such as cognitive assessment, psychotherapy labs, supervision/consultation, psychopharmacology, and/or group psychotherapy. - Supervise doctoral dissertations and serve on dissertation committees. - Participate in curriculum review, program assessment, and the academic admissions process.
- Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program. - At least five years of experience in clinical training, preferably within an academic or clinical training setting. Experience working with diverse client populations and in graduate clinical education is highly desirable. - Demonstrated commitment to the Christlike spiritual formation of students. Viable candidates will be in full agreement with the Biola Doctrinal Statement and Standard of Conduct and communicate a compelling interest in relating psychological theory, practice, and research to the Christian faith. - Licensed or license-eligible to practice as a psychologist in California. - Demonstrated ability to integrate psychology with Christian faith in training, teaching, and practice. - Commitment to mentoring and supporting diverse student populations. - Skills: Strong leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience in program evaluation and management.
