Salary: PLNU pays its faculty using a payscale based on experience and academic rank. Faculty salaries using this scale for a 2-semester appointment range from $69,630 to $113,916. The actual salary will be based on the experience, rank, and appointment term of the candidate selected to fill this position.

The PLNU Department of Chemistry has six full-time faculty members, a strong commitment to quality teaching, and a longstanding tradition of undergraduate research, which includes a well-supported summer research program. We moved into a state-of-the-art laboratory facility in 2015 with committed space for teaching and research. The department offers B.S. degrees in Chemistry, Biology-Chemistry, and Environmental Science. The latter two degrees are offered in cooperation with the Biology Department.
Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate courses that include lecture and laboratory courses in the candidate’s area of expertise along with general education and service courses
Advise students academically, spiritually, and socially
Supervise and mentor students in the PLNU summer research program
Participate in departmental and university activities and governance
Qualifications Professional:
A Ph.D. in Chemistry is required.
Evidence of a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and research are required.
Evidence of professional activity in the discipline is preferred.
Evidence of effectiveness in teaching students from diverse backgrounds is preferred.
Philosophical:
A thorough commitment to the concept of Christian liberal arts education and a desire to work in a Christian university is required.
Support for the religious and educational goals of the university and its sponsoring denomination is required.
A strong commitment to modern, effective, and safe lab practices is required.
Personal:
Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, faculty agree to live in agreement with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant.
