Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Student Accounts, the Accounting Tech II, Current and Non-Current Collections Specialist is responsible for duties related to collections, high balance accounts, communications, Perkins loans, VA certifications, endowed scholarship awards, and returned payments.
This job could possibly be a hybrid work option.
Work Performed:
- Collections Management:
- Process collection agency submissions and returns.
- Handle collection agency payments.
- Manage high balance accounts and communicate past-due balances to students.
- Financial Processing:
- Process payments, bankruptcies, tax offsets, and death certificates.
- Approve refunds and process returned payments from the bank.
- Produce and analyze reports related to accounts receivable (AR) and collections.
- Student Records and Coding:
- Maintain accurate student records and coding.
- Identify and remove unnecessary codes from student accounts.
- Provide drop lists and facilitate student drops as needed.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Communicate effectively with current and non-current students regarding past due balances.
- Collaborate with departments such as Athletics, International, Financial Aid, and Residence Life to achieve the best AR results.
- Work with deans and the CFO to discuss AR status.
- Special Programs:
- Handle Perkins loan assignments.
- Process VA certifications.
- Administer endowed scholarship awards based on established criteria and renew them if requirements are met.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
