Belhaven University, a Christian university committed to the ministry of integrating faith and learning, is searching for a candidate for a professor in the Department of Biology at the traditional undergraduate campus in Jackson, Mississippi. This is an open-rank, tenure-track position. Belhaven is located in a historic residential neighborhood just north of downtown Jackson. Jackson is a pleasant city with parks, bike trails, and a thriving arts and cultural community.
The Biology Department values strong partnerships within the community and within the university. Current faculty are collaborative and collegial with other departments working together on research, recruitment, and other projects. We have an active Biology Career and Service Club and encourage students to engage in service projects and in professional development, such as applying for internships and attending conferences.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses supporting both introductory biology and an area of their expertise.
Candidates will conduct and supervise undergraduate student research projects, carry out student advising and mentoring, and participate in departmental activities that foster community.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Biology or related discipline is required.
Experience supervising undergraduate research and teaching is preferred but not
