Columbia International University is seeking a Physics Faculty for the 2024-2025 academic year. The Physics Faculty will teach general physics lecture and lab to biology and biomedical/health sciences majors and physical science to non-majors. The ability to contribute to math and/or chemistry courses is preferred. The faculty member must be able to advance the evangelical Christian mission of the institution. The faculty member will instruct and advise science majors and collaborate with other faculty in administering goals, program development, and program activities. Teaching load is 24 semester hours annually.
SOME RESPONSIBILITIES ARE:
Provide support for biology, biomedical sciences, and health science majors and general education core.
Teach up to eight (8) college level courses per year (24 semester hours) across the fields of general physics lecture and laboratory courses, physical science as well as math and/or general chemistry.
Advise students within the sciences as needed.
Interact with prospective students as needed.
Assist regularly with assessment of CIU’s science curriculum.
SOME REQUIREMENTS ARE:
Experience teaching college physics and related courses.
Knowledge of the disciplines associated with physics, including pedagogy, information literacy, and research.
Ability to teach effectively at the college level.
Minimum master’s degree in physics from an accredited university;
An earned doctorate (PhD or equivalent) in physics, engineering or closely related field is preferred.
Preference also given to individuals who have the ability to contribute to math and/or general chemistry.
