Cedarville University is seeking to hire an Assistant Director of Public Relations who leads a team of student public relations writers in the development of stories about university faculty, staff, students, and their respective programs. This is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt position, reporting to the Executive Director of Public Relations.

Essential Responsibilities:

1.  Write stories and provide leadership to the student public relations writers

• Manage student schedules and Timesheets
• Review and edit news releases
• Post news releases on the university’s website

2.  Serve as Merit Software Manager to communicate student-related stories

3.  Cedarville Stories Podcast

• Write Show Notes
• Post and Distribute Podcast

5.   Advertising Manager

• Request advertising creative
• Place ads in selected media outlets

6.  Crisis Communication

• Assist in crisis communication situations, when needed

Position Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, professional writing, or English preferred
• Strong writing skills required
• Proven experience in professional writing, editing, journalism, or related area
• Exceptional proofreading and editing skills
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language
• Proficient in common office software systems (Photoshop knowledge, preferred) 
• Possess a valid driver's license
