Reporting to the Director of Design, the Media Specialist is a part of telling the story of the university through creative and professional videography, photography, and design. The Media Specialist executes filming, editing, and production of professional quality videos and photos for marketing and communication purposes. In the fast-paced and ever-changing world of media marketing, the Media Specialist will develop, maintain and evolve video and photographic standards campus wide. The Media Specialist will play a major role in developing content for social media. This position will require untraditional hours depending on events and subjects that need to be captured.
Creates video for social media, YouTube, and website
coordinates the schedule and plans for production, post-production, and delivery of the finished product
Prepares locations prior to shooting; conducts video shoot; films interviews and events
Makes technical decisions regarding such elements as appropriate lighting, camera angles and audio equipment; receives explicit instructions regarding assignment
Completes all rendering, compressing, and processing of video files to ensure prompt delivery via Web
Edits and assembles final visual/audio program material; ensures consistency and relevancy to production; monitors technical quality of end product
Manages pre-production, shoot day, and post
Is a part of telling the story of the university through creative and professional photography- capable of producing lifestyle, portraiture, and event photography.
Establishes, manages and maintains the video and photo archives
Develop, maintain and adhere to editorial guidelines, in addition to ensuring overall quality and alignment of the brand with the creation of all content
Contributes to social media by keeping up with trends in social media and higher education, participating in brainstorming and producing content.
Research best practices, current trends, and appropriate new technologies for elevating digital communications.
Develop and work with new innovations in AI video editing to create content
Collaborate with team to create content
Bachelor’s degree minimum.
Portfolio of photography and video required
Graphic Design and Motion Design skills a plus
Willingness to learn new software tools for tasks as needed.
Strong project management skills
