Higher Ed Administrative Careers - Business/Financial Management
Reporting to the Vice President of Admin and Finance/CFO, the Controller is responsible for managing all day-to-day accounting functions, including, but not limited to general ledger, cash management, financial reporting, budget development/control, accounts receivable (including student billing/collections), and accounts payable for the institutions business unit. The position is further responsible for the maintenance of the general ledger, year-end audit, tax return, and financial statement preparation, campus compliance with Federal and State regulations, general campus accounting policies and processes, and internal control over financial transactions and reporting. The Controller works closely and collaboratively with the CFO to achieve a strategic, student-centered approach to accounting principles in support of the University's mission.
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, supervision, and direction for personnel assigned to the Business Office.
Performs accounting and finance procedures as directed and in accordance with established best practices, policies and procedures, and generally accepted accounting principles.
Stays abreast of changes in financial management and advises supervisor on desirable operational adjustments due to changes in policies, procedures, rules, regulations and law as applicable.
Prepares and maintains financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Reconciles and maintains schedules for all general ledger accounts.
Assists in analyses and coordinates the annual external Financial Audit.
Prepares and maintains grant fund account reconciliations and details.
Assists in the development and maintenance of an effective system of internal controls.
Develops, implements, and monitors accounting goals and objectives for the Univesity.
