Job Overview
The System Specialist provides technology and information support for the Human Resources Office. The System Specialist will work closely with the Human Resource leadership team to maintain, enhance, and test existing technologies, and to develop comprehensive strategies for applying technology to improve business practices. The System Specialist is also responsible for analyzing existing data, ensuring data integrity, and provide reports necessary for Human Resources compliance and operations.
The System Specialist reports jointly to the Chief Human Resources Officer and the Director of Benefits, with a dotted line report to the Academic and Institutional Technology team. The System Specialist does not have supervisory responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain and enhance Human Resources use of existing systems to provide increased efficiencies, faster services, and reduced costs.
Function as an expert regarding all Human Resources data found in the enterprise system in order to effectively analyze, manage, and manipulate data as well as ensure data integrity.
Develop standardized reporting to support key Human Resources processes as well as produce ad hoc reports.
Partner with constituents inside and outside Human Resources to provide data needed for various College audits, compliance filings/reports, and projects.
Lead Human Resources review and testing of quarterly Oracle updates to determine if system upgrades can be applied without disruption to Human Resource functions.
Manage the data and processes required to comply with the Affordable Care Act and other regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain written and online system documentation, reference, and training materials.
Ensure all new data and processes work effectively throughout the Wheaton College enterprise system and comply with legal and data security requirements.
Serve as a liaison between Human Resources and Academic and Institutional Technology regarding system upgrades, process improvements, and internal/external integrations.
Represent Human Resources on various campus technology-related committees.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, emphasis in systems, business, and/or Human Resource preferred.
Five or more years of experience as a programmer, Data or Business Analyst, or HRIS Specialist; experience working with Human Resources information systems preferred.
Advanced skills using integrated database technology and SQL required.
Experience working with Oracle Cloud and Oracle Cloud reporting (OTBI, BI) strongly preferred.
Experience working in higher education preferred.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite.
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to document, communicate and translate information between functional and technical staff.
Excellent analytical and data manipulation skills
Ability to think critically and solve complex problems.
Familiarity with benefit programs, and Human Resources compliance, functions, and processes a plus.
Able to handle sensitive, confidential information in a mature, professional manner.
Proven self-starter, able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Demonstrated project management ability.
