George Fox University's Institutional Technology department is seeking a collaborative individual to drive continuous improvement and digital transformation efforts through leadership of the university enterprise software team.
About the Job:
The Director of Digital Transformation works closely with campus constituents to understand the needs and requirements of functional areas across campus and to identify opportunities for business process improvement and automation. In the position, you will shape the work of the enterprise software and applications team to address those needs through quality software development and application management.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the institution's strategic goals by improving speed of service, quality of service delivery, and process efficiency and effectiveness.
- Organizing and prioritizing the tasks and workload of the Enterprise Software Team.
- Overseeing project and portfolio management for Enterprise Software.
- Providing secondary policy, process and response support for the Information Security Program.
- Leading change management initiatives for Institutional Technology.
- Assisting in the planning, development, and management of George Fox technology services and associated risk management issues.
- Assisting in shaping the overall priorities and workload for Institutional Technology.
- Working closely with campus stakeholders and constituents to align university technology deliverables with stakeholder input and customer requirements.
- Assessing and implementing internal controls related to information systems.
- Organizing, leading and facilitating cross-functional project and/or task teams responsible for improving processes at the institutional level.
- Applying continuous improvement to Institutional Technology operations and the university information security program.
- Assisting in designing a flexible and innovative data, service, and software architecture.
- Building and maintaining partnerships throughout the campus community to support the educational and administrative needs of the institution.
- Coaching individuals across campus on automation and internal controls.
- Providing support and operational leadership related to process and data governance.
- Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
- By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
- Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
- Other duties as assigned.
A day in the life of this position:
Each day the Director of Digital Transformation will work closely with constituents across campus to understand business needs, map business processes and identify opportunities to increase effectiveness throughout the institution. Through their work they will build relationships with business and academic partners to better understand how their needs can be addressed through software and business applications. The Director will also work closely with their team to shape their work to make the best use of university resources. In addition, this leader will work closely with other units within Institutional Technology to apply continuous improvement to department operations and information security.
We're looking for candidates who have:
- A Bachelor's degree or further education.
- A combination of education and experience that prepares you to be a successful leader of a technical team.
- Experience with process mapping, automation and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with lean concepts such as 5S, standard work, visual management and structured problem solving.
- Familiarity with information security principles and regulations.
- Familiarity with and the ability to maintain current knowledge of AI/ML and its practical implications for business process development and improvement.
- Strong listening skills and a collaborative approach to leadership.
- The ability to work independently on complex projects, to identify and delegate tasks and to determine progress toward critical milestones.
- Communication skills that allow you to engage with business leaders and technical teams both verbally and in writing
- Discernment to know when and how to challenge conventional thinking and when to hold to established practices
- Critical thinking skills and a logical approach to identify strengths and weaknesses of varied solutions
- Ability to explain complex and technical concepts in plain language
- A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
Preference will be given to those who have the following attributes:
- Familiarity with higher education business processes and academic cycles.
- A strong understanding of technical concepts.
- An understanding of the relationship between business processes and data artifacts related to those processes.
- Familiarity with open source software development and deployment.

- Hours Per Week: 40 hours (1.0 FTE) - Monday through Friday
