Good personality traits for college professors include a high level of enthusiasm, self-confidence, and the willingness to mentor students. The professor must teach graduate leadership courses in higher education, and serve on university, college, and department committees. They must demonstrate a commitment to the education profession through presentations at the P-12 and collegiate levels, participate in research to stay current in the field and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to teaching excellence.
