The Department of Biblical Studies and Theology in the Pruet School of Christian Studies at Ouachita Baptist University invites applications for a tenure-track position in biblical studies to begin August 2023. The successful candidate will exhibit excellent teaching in the context of a liberal arts education; scholarly activity in the field; a collegial commitment to professional, university, departmental, and community service; and a Christian commitment consistent with the University’s vision, mission, and values. Primary teaching responsibilities will include biblical studies courses (possibly including biblical languages) as well as Survey of the Bible and Interpreting the Bible. Other responsibilities will include supporting students through academic advising, working with colleagues to develop new and existing programs, and actively participating in campus life. Additional opportunities exist for on and off-campus engagements, such as research and professional development. Rank and salary are dependent on qualifications. All qualified candidates will be considered, but preference will be given to those who have a PhD in either Hebrew Bible or New Testament and have experience serving in ministry. The successful candidate will be expected to become an active member of a church that partners with the ABSC.

Ouachita Baptist University, a private liberal arts university in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, is entering its 137th year as a Christ-centered learning community. Ouachita continues to experience considerable institutional momentum. During the past six years, Ouachita’s enrollment has increased by 17.6%. Fall 2022 enrollment is the highest in 56 years, with a headcount of 1,784 students. On-campus enrollment is the highest since 2011, while enrollment in all colleges and universities in the state combined decreased during that period.
