POSITION OVERVIEW
San Diego Christian College (SDCC), as an academic and learning community, aims to prepare academically equipped, culturally and globally involved graduates with a biblical worldview and godly character to serve God. SDCC is a religious, non-profit organization (501c3) registered in the state of California. It is our mission to educate and inspire students through the truth of Scripture and the development of competencies that prepare graduates whose purpose is to impact the world.
The Office of thePresident at SDCC provides outstanding customer service to internal (students, staff, faculty) and external customers, welcoming guests, innovating creative ways to spread the SDCC brand across campus and furthers the mission, vision and values of the organization.
The President provides executive leadership to the college by translating the policies of the Board of Trustees into practical procedures. The President will serve as the chief administrator of the college and will oversee planning, organizational, fiscal, and personnel activities as they pertain to accomplishing the goals and mission of the college.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Strategic Planning and Public Relations (60%)
Provide leadership in the areas of strategic planning and public relations; report to and work with various educational agencies and the constituency of the college.
Assume a supervisory role at the college, translating and enforcing the policies of the Board of Trustees as they pertain to rules, procedures, and/or standards.
Aggressively promote the college nationwide; be available to represent the college to the general public and in educational circles; be available for public speaking engagements, conference tours, and college-related promotional activities.
Provide leadership and active involvement in fundraising activities; assist in various fund raising efforts of the college by meeting with donors and cultivating new donor prospects.
Personnel and Supervisory Duties (20%)
Preside over and consult with the President’s Cabinet; attend weekly meetings; schedule and direct the Cabinet retreat; schedule and host the President’s Cabinet reception each fall semester.
Provide supervision for the Chief Financial Officer to ensure continuity of sound fiscal responsibility for the college.
Inform the Board regarding the promotion, demotion, and separation of members of the administrative staff. Conduct annual administrative staff evaluations.
Monitor performance of management-level personnel; encourage divergent thinking to create alternative professional growth opportunities.
Participate in the selection of component and harmonious administrative and teaching personnel, with administrators, Human Resources Department, and department chairperson(s).
Administrative Duties (10%)
Execute contracts and legal documents on behalf of the college as approved by the Board of Trustees.
Serve as an executive officer on the Board of Trustees; prepare for and attend scheduled meetings; report directly to the Board regarding the general operations of the college.
Serve as the chief administrator of the college; work closely with and efficiently utilize the services of senior administrative staff members.
Community Development (10%)
Actively promote unity of purpose and amity among and between the administrative staff, Board of Trustees, student body, alumni, and the college constituency.
Speak in President’s chapel as scheduled.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge
Doctorate in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Extensive experience in higher education preferred.
Strong ministry and diversified outreach experience preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Comprehensive understanding of Christian theology with a creationist view of origins, and a sincere commitment to the doctrinal philosophy of SDCC is required.
Detailed understanding and commitment to the integration of the biblical texts, principles and theology into traditional academic disciplines.
Skills

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, reach, see, key, hear, work independently, communicate effectively lift and carry up to 20 lbs (with or without assistance). This position requires long periods of sitting, standing, walking, keying and hand/eye coordination for keyboard data entry and viewing data on a computer monitor.
Must be available to work nights and weekends as needed.
Travel as needed (25%).

President’s Profile
The President of San Diego Christian College (SDCC) is expected to embrace its mission (Truth, Purpose, Impact) and to provide strategic leadership in developing long-term initiatives that will advance this mission. The President must have the ability to effectively articulate these principles and values to the board of trustees, leadership team, faculty, staff, students, and other external constituencies.
The next President shall serve as the chief executive officer of the College and is responsible for the successful operation of all areas, including finance, enrollment, academic affairs, fundraising, student services, and church and community relations.
The next President will have a passion for both traditional and non-traditional academic studies. We envision a student body of 1,000+ traditional and 2,000+ non-traditional students. The next President will have a passion for diversity on campus among the student body, faculty, and staff.
The College anticipates the next President will demonstrate a dynamic combination of spiritual commitment, leadership, vision, fundraising ability, management expertise, interpersonal skills, and higher education experience.

A personal understanding of and genuine commitment to SDCC’s doctrinal statement and Community Covenant. It is expected that the President will hold to the belief of a literal six-day creation account as laid out in Genesis. The President is expected to hold to a high standard of personal holiness in public and private life, just as we expect of our students, faculty, and staff.
Either an earned terminal degree in a relevant discipline or an advanced degree with significant commensurate senior executive experience.
The ability to balance grace and truth in leadership, to exercise intentionality in conversations, and to model humility that enables and inspires others.
Demonstrates empathy and cultural intelligence and works well with both male and female leadership, as well as a multi-cultural and ethnically diverse community.
A successful record of leadership in either academic or other settings.
Substantial experience in accredited higher education institutions and experience with the responsibilities of the office of a college President, including sound fiscal responsibility with large budgets.
Demonstrated success in fundraising and securing external funding.
Significant evidence of experience in strategic planning and charting institutional vision.
Experience in building partnerships involving churches and other organizations.
