Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Gerontology and Director of the Institute for Human Care. This position reports directly to the Dean of the College of Health, Science & Technology and is located in River Forest, IL.
The Assistant/Associate Professor of Gerontology and Director of the Institute for Human Care is responsible for leading the outward-facing Institute for Human Care in the College of HST. This individual will teach and potentially lead academic programs in home discipline.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Leads the Institute for Human Care to create and manage community-engaged education and research connected to the College's academic programs
Oversees the operations of the existing Center for Gerontology
Provides program leadership and teaches courses in the academic discipline as assigned
Pursues original scholarship and performs service to the division, college, institution, and community
Engages alumni and other University supporters in the support of current students
Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS)
Skill Sets:
Strong administrative skills, including related computer and technology skills
Superior verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work with all levels of staff and administration

Minimum Experience Required:
Previous experience teaching as a full-time faculty member at a college or university is required
A successful record of obtaining, managing, and evaluating external grants is required
Education Requirements:
A terminal degree in a related academic discipline is required
Undergraduate certification or colloquy completion as a professional church worker in the LCMS is preferred
