TYPE: Full-time, Exempt LOCATION: West Palm Beach Campus
SUMMARY: Provide administrative oversight of the library programs, facilities, and personnel; administer the academic budget and staffing levels; and ensure the library operates within institutional policies and professional best practices. Responsible for shaping a shared vision for library resources, services, and facilities in support of the academic programs and mission of the University.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Library Administration
Supervise the implementation and assessment of all library operations and programs, including the University Archives, Special Collections and the Orlando campus library.
Establish a vision for the Library’s resources, facilities, and services through budget development, contract negotiations and compliance of license agreements to support the budget.
Develop and implement library policies to optimize library support for library access, teaching, and research.
Encourage and support faculty in the development of library instructional, research, and service programs targeting both undergraduate and graduate students
Work with the Advancement Office to obtain grants and other funds that enhance the operations and work of the library.
Recruit, and supervise the library staff and student workers that align with the University’s mission; and, provide professional development opportunities to grow within the organization.
Develop annual departmental goals that align with the university’s vision by maintaining utilization information and Annual Reports.
Other duties as assigned.
Service and Professional Outreach
Serve on committees, task forces, and other roles of service to the institution.
Facilitate use of the facilities for institutional events and relate the work with other schools and administrative units within the University.
Preside over meetings of library faculty or staff according to a consistent, schedule, and meet monthly with the Associate Provost.
Attend faculty and University functions as ambassador of the Library.
Research and Professional Activities
Maintain expertise in research techniques in order to teach information literacy and provide reference services, both in person and remotely through mediated technologies.
Knowledgeable about current and emergent technologies and leads innovative initiatives that serve the current and future needs of faculty, students, and staff.
Be active in local and national library professional organizations and consortia.
Teach a course as required or appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong analytical skills are an essential element of the position.
Ability to build partnerships and work in a collaborative manner with others to meet shared objectives.
Build strong customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions.
Ability to communicate effectively with and work well with a diverse staff and user population.
Proficient in library management systems such as ex libris alma, primo integrated library operating system and additional supporting software necessary to maintain the library operations and web presence.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduate Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited graduate school required. Doctorate preferred. 7+ years’ experience in academic libraries, including supervisory experience.
