Taylor University is seeking applications and nominations of distinctive candidates for a faculty appointment to a tenure track position in the Biology Program beginning in August 2023*. Rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Qualifications
Candidates must have a personal, vibrant faith and Christian walk and be strongly committed to the educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University. Taylor University is a Christ-centered educational institution, and an evangelical, interdenominational covenant community committed to advancing life-long learning and ministering the redemptive love and truth of Jesus Christ to a world in need. Candidates will be expected to affirm the Taylor University Life Together Covenant, Statement of Faith, and essential documents.
An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in the field of biology is required. Excellence in teaching is essential, including integration of faith into the classroom and discipline. Previous teaching and/or postdoctoral experience is desired. Evidence of active and ongoing scholarship is required. Preference will be given to applicants with research programs designed to involve undergraduate student researchers. Candidates with primary disciplines in a wide variety of biology subfields will be considered and are encouraged to apply. In keeping with the multi-disciplinary nature and available tracks of the biology program, the successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of biology that is broader than her/his primary discipline. Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach a variety of coursesfor majorsthat could include some of the following:foundational biology courses (e.g.cellular/molecular biology, genetics, organismal biology, anatomy, physiology), and upper-level courses (e.g.molecular and cell biology, microbiology and immunology, developmental biology, medical terminology, research methods, nature of science, evolutionary biology, senior capstone), as well as courses in the applicant’s area ofspecialization. We strongly encourage candidates with a bioinformatics or data science background or interest to apply. A typical teaching load is two courses with associated labs per semester. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in research and other forms of scholarship that involve undergraduate students. The candidate should be comfortable with creative pedagogy, including online instruction if necessary.The appointee will be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students. Standard faculty duties such as advising, committee assignments, and scholarly activity are expected.
Department
The Biology Program consists of sixfull-time faculty members who serve over 100 students majoring in Biology Investigation and Applications, Biology Health Sciences, and Biology Secondary Education, as well as providing instruction for students in general education and service courses.??The Biology Program works closely with our department (Department of Biology, Environmental Science, Public Health, and Sustainable Development) as well as Chemistry & Biochemistry, Kinesiology, and Psychology departments with a health career preparatory focus. The Biology Programis housed primarily in the 127,000 square foot LEED Gold certified Euler Science Complex that opened in 2012 and has state-of-the-art biology instructional laboratory equipment (e.g. cell culture room, small animal care facility, cryostat, greenhouses, and upright fluorescence confocal microscope). Departmental faculty have expertise in animal, plant, cellular, molecular, developmental biology, and genetics.
