Position Summary

Northwest University - School of PA Medicine has applied for Accreditation-Provisional from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). The School of PA Medicine anticipates matriculating its first class in August of 2024, pending approval for Accreditation-Provisional status at the March 2024 ARC-PA meeting.

Northwest University is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor for the School of PA Medicine.  This position will serve in a dual capacity as a principal faculty member and a Didactic Coordinator and collaborate with all members of the program faculty and staff.

The successful candidate will provide oversight with assessment, course, and curriculum sequencing to align with ARC-PA standards, as well as providing general leadership and direction of the didactic year. This includes maintaining student and instructional faculty records, as well as data collection to contribute to the self-study element of accreditation maintenance for the program. The didactic coordinator is a principal faculty member reporting to the Dean of the PA program.

The principal faculty member must possess a meaningful commitment to Jesus Christ, the church, and the Gospel. We are seeking someone with a winsome, encouraging, and culturally engaged faith. Candidates with previous academic experience including precepting or teaching are preferred.

Essential Functions

1. Provide classroom instruction and coordinate activities related to the education for students admitted to the didactic phase of the program.
2. Evaluation student performance.
3. Designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the curriculum for the didactic phase.
4. Serve as an advisor to all students admitted into the program.
5. Actively participating in all ARC-PA accreditation activities that are required.
6. Participate in the student admissions selection process each year.
7. Participate in all committees related to the operations within the PA program.
8. Participate in the governance functions of the university as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Candidate must be a current licensed physician assistant or an allopathic/osteopathic physician.
2. Candidate must be board certified.
3. Candidate must have a demonstrated, vibrant evangelical faith compatible with the mission of Northwest University.
4. Candidate must have the ability to apply a faith-based worldview to program design, instruction, and advising.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Candidate has previous academic appointments in education.
2. Candidate has previous leadership experience in education.
3. Candidate is willing to enroll in a doctoral program related to area of instruction (If applicable).
4. Candidate has established relationships with area hospitals and local clinics.
5. Candidate is an active member of a local church.

Compensation

Based on education and experience, compensation for Assistant Professor starts at $107,586 to a median of $112,000.
