George Fox University's Office of Spiritual Life is seeking a passionate leader with devout faith to serve as our University Pastor for Chapel Programs.
About the Job:
The University Pastor for Chapel Programs is the caretaker and curator for the University's worship--which forms undergraduate students spiritually, to challenge and to engage them in thinking about the character and work of God, and which aligns with the theological commitments of the university. The University Pastor for Chapel Programs builds a team tasked with producing the required worship program and its various elements. This Pastor also acts as a content expert and first point of content for our denominational/Friend's theology and networking. This pastor preaches regularly, provides pastoral counsel for students, and performs other pastoral duties with the university pastoral staff.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Curating all aspects of the worship experience at George Fox University. (60%)
Overseeing the critical data assessment for the University (ASLAN). (15%)
Serving as a member of the Pastoral Team. (25%)
Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.

A day in the life of this position:
The University Pastor for Chapel Programs works collaboratively with a dynamic team of pastors and ministry leaders to provide spiritual care for the George Fox community. This Pastor works alongside faculty and administrators on curriculum for this educational program, networks and hosts high profile guests of the university, and builds lasting partnerships with local pastors and ministry partners.
We're looking for candidates who have:
A Graduate degree.
Prior experience in a pastoral role.
A Christian commitment and lifestyle consistent with the institution's values.
An evident commitment to God's kingdom vision of every tongue, tribe, and nation worshiping together at the throne of the Lamb; character that honors others, works toward reconciliation, and understanding.
Prior experience in program development, with particular experience planning large group worship experiences.
Understanding of and experience in leadership development principles and practices.
A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
Preference will be given to those who have the following attributes:
A Graduate degree in Ministry, Divinity, Christian Education or Worship.
Experience working with young adults in a church or college campus setting.
Hours Per Week - 40 hours
Position may require participation in after-hours and weekend work for certain events.
Work Location - Newberg Campus
Working Conditions - Must have the ability to lift more than 25 pounds and perform any activities such as balancing, bending/stooping, climbing stairs, crouching, etc.
