Redeemer University invites applications for a tenure-track position in health sciences and biology (genetics/molecular biology, microbiology) beginning in July 2023. Candidates must be aligned with and passionate about Redeemer’s Christian mission of integrating faith in teaching and research. Candidates should possess, or be near completion of, a PhD and have a research program and accomplishments appropriate to their career stage. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record (or show potential) of excellence in undergraduate teaching.
The applicant will teach courses that serve the Biochemistry, Biology, and Health Sciences Programs situated in the Natural Sciences and Mathematics Area. We are seeking an applicant with an academic and research background in molecular biology, genetics, and/or microbiology.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
An ability and desire to teach courses in areas such as biochemistry/molecular biology, epidemiology, genetics, and microbiology.
An interest in supervising students doing senior research projects.
An ability and desire to do research in molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, or a related field.
An interest in teaching in Redeemer’s liberal arts and sciences core program.
An interest in establishing and fostering relationships with local health agencies.
The Application Process
Applicants should submit a letter of application, C.V., evidence of teaching quality, a 1-2-page statement describing their own Christian faith commitment and how it relates to Redeemer’s mission and to their teaching and perspective on the discipline, and the names of three individuals who have agreed to provide letters of reference should the applicant advance to a later stage of the process. The application deadline is November 30, 2022 or until the position is filled.
