GENERAL NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Provides mission-centric strategic leadership and management to all areas of student spiritual formation and Christian community, which includes student development, the spiritual nurturing of the campus community, and the development of a culture of honor where a flourishing and diverse campus life can thrive to bless each and every student. This leadership and management role will include but is not limited to planning, program development, policy development, staffing, and evaluation. In addition, the VP for SFCC represents its areas of responsibility to the wider campus constituents, campus leadership and external audiences.
Initiates university-wide direction as a member of the President’s Executive Council and the President’s Cabinet.
Prepares and supervises program planning and management aimed at challenging and supporting students' holistic growth as well as providing quality services.
Provides oversight of the Campus Pastor leading and guiding students’ spiritual growth.
Provides oversight of counseling, health services, campus housing, community life, student engagement, and athletics.
Collaborates with the Dean for Undergraduate Education on the integration of academic and co-curricular initiatives.
Provides vision and oversight of global mission and service efforts.
Recruits, supervises, develops, and evaluates staff in Spiritual Formation & Christian Community.
Serves as the Title IX Coordinator.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND: Master’s degree in an appropriate field required, doctorate preferred.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: A level of professional, moral, and personal maturity as evidenced through a senior management role in an educational, church, or church-related organization.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
A mature understanding of the Christian liberal arts and their contribution to spiritual formation.
An understanding of global Christianity and ability to function cross-culturally.
Ability to model a spirit-filled life that will engage students and motivate them to live as devoted followers of Jesus.
Effective teacher of the Bible.
Ability to build, motivate and lead a team of student professionals.
A clear understanding of today’s students and a successful record of relating to and influencing them.
A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and an active Christian commitment.
A theology and Christian worldview that supports the values and mission of Cornerstone University evidenced by an ability to affirm and exemplify the university’s doctrinal statement, “The Cornerstone Confession.”
