The College of Education at Northwest University is actively seeking to diversify the K-12 teaching population of Washington State in order to more closely resemble the racial and ethnic makeup of its K-12 students. We believe that begins with our hiring practices. As such, we are especially interested in speaking with diverse candidates regarding this and other open faculty positions.
Maintain and recruit new partnerships with K-12 schools and educational organizations for the purpose of growth in the alternative routes to certification (GYO) programs
Support recruitment into the GYO programs by
forming district partnerships on behalf of inquiring students
evaluating incoming students’ transcripts
advising students taking pre-requisite courses and content exams
Serve as the Program Lead for the Alternative Routes to Teaching programs (BA and MIT) by
providing curricular leadership
mentoring and advising enrolled students
teaching online courses in the GYO program
Supervise Elementary-Endorsement Teacher Candidates during Student Teaching
Master’s degree in Education or closely related field
Washington State K-12 public school teaching experience (Elementary, Special Education, or STEM education)
Strong commitment to a Christ-centered life, including active church attendance
Experience working with individuals from underrepresented backgrounds
Dedication to addressing issues of racial inequity in K-12 schools through diversifying the teacher candidate pool and utilizing differentiation and strong scaffolding to achieve high standards
Experience in coaching new teachers
Goal-oriented, organized, and collaborative
Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education or closely related field
Dependent on education and experience and based upon the established faculty salary schedule.
