Higher Ed Administrative Careers - Student Affairs/Student services
Required Education * High school graduate, additional education in business or accounting desired.
Required Experience * One to two years of business, accounting and cashiering experience preferred. * Experience in working cross-departments for cashiering duties and customer relations. * Experience in customer related problem-solving skills. * Experience in sharing responsibility with a team to reach a common goal including working collaboratively and cooperatively with team members. * Experience in multi-task work and focus on the detail in a high-volume, busy environment. * Experience in communicating with all levels of an organization using strong oral and written skills.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions * Responsible for all cashiering functions within the One Card office including acting as a liaison for other university departments related to cashiering and offering assistance. * Responsible for ID Card and badge production for students, staff and faculty. * Responsible for accuracy of implementation of all One Card processes and policies. * Responsible for a working knowledge of ID Works, People Soft, Odyssey and Micros systems. * Responsible for maintenance of One Card office equipment. * Responsible for supervising One Card student staff. * Responsible to provide training to subordinates as in written material and verbal training. * Responsible for all functions of the Cougar Buck and Departmental card programs. * Coordinates with various APU departments to ensure accuracy of student ID accounts. * Coordinates with various University Services departments for implementation of meal plan sign ups, processing of meal plans and special event cards. * Responsible to follow all policies and procedures related to cashiering and the One Card office. * Responsible for the receipt of payments and deposits made to the university. * Responsible for maintaining the supply of cash on hand to meet the cash requirement of university for primary cashier station. This includes the ability to monitor proper internal security controls and verifying the cash is being receipted daily. * Responsible for preparing the outgoing deposit bag daily for the assigned armored car service and depositing university funds to the bank daily. * Responsible for the open/close process in cashiering through the PeopleSoft system and Micros POS. * Provides professional customer service when greeting students, parents, faculty and staff when providing service and performance of the transaction, answering phones or when calling an APU department. This includes working with various employees, internal and external throughout the university. * Strong communication skills both verbal and written. * Provides assistance to both internal and external customers for problem-solving, training, and education. * Regular punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs. * Responsible for daily electronic timekeeping as it applies to the scope of this position. * Performs other duties as required by the supervisor.
Skills * The ability to learn, apply and communicate policies, procedures, and regulations relevant to assigned duties. * The ability to multi-task and willingness to learn new skills. * The ability to deal effectively with deadlines and tight month end closing process. * Proficiency with using a Computer, Word and Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Google Mail programs with accuracy. * Data entry required knowing 10 key by touch. * Team oriented person who can focus on the details while adapting to changes easily. * The ability to work effectively in a loud, high volume environment that is constantly changing. * The ability to prioritize, organize, and problem-solve while working with team members. * Good telephone skills and use of all other business equipment * High attention to detail and comfortable with numerical data.
Mental Demands * Ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the general public. * Able to exercise independent judgment and maintain confidentiality of information. * Ability to work under minimal supervision, take initiative, and be creative. * Ability to communicate with supervisor for support * Logical problem solving. * Attention to detail, accuracy, and deadlines. * Ability to identify internal control weaknesses and effectively communicate operational and functional improvements to supervisor. * Ability to integrate Christian values in all aspects of the position. * In agreement with the purpose and goals of Azusa Pacific University in providing a Christian-based higher education for its students.
Physical Demands * Requires continuous periods of sitting, 5-6 hours a day. * Extensive computer keyboard work. * Repetitive wrist and finger motions. * Talking and good listening demands. * Able to lift, bend, grasp, reach, bend to lower file drawers and reach to top of a five drawer file cabinet. * Able to lift up to 50lbs. * Ability to conduct business at other offices on campus.
Visual Demands * Reading, writing notes, and computer monitor.
Environment * Pleasant office setting, comfortable temperature.
