Higher Ed Administrative Careers - Development/Fundraising
Required Education * Bachelor’s Degree required (preferably in Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or other related fields).
Required Experience * Minimum one to three years of related work experience * Experience in project management with internal and external constituents, and able to work with vendors to produce stories (video, digital design, etc.) * Previous professional writing experience with writing samples upon request * Advanced knowledge of English language, including grammar, syntax, and punctuation * Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office, Google applications, and design software * Exceptional attention to detail with the ability for self-organization * Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment and serve constituents from a wide variety of backgrounds * Knowledge of managing social media platforms and website content
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
Strategic Communications * Develop strategic communication plan to promote departmental virtual and in-person events, and opportunities for alumni engagement (for example, Homecoming, soliciting alumni award nominations, partnering with Career Center for events, etc.) * Consistent collaboration with Strategic Communication and Engagement to stay abreast of campus events and alumni news * Manage social media platforms by drafting content that endorses programs and engagement opportunities (LinkedIn, APU Connect, Instagram, Facebook, Campaign Monitor) * Create promotional plan to increase awareness, usage, and return on investment for exclusive alumni networking platform - APU Connect * Collaborate with Strategic Communication and Engagement and Annual Giving to produce promotional strategy for marketing and communication content and timing of distribution
Content Creation * Specialize in internal campus communications and external community communications to disseminate and promote program information (ie. alumni newsletters, social media campaigns, alumni birthday emails, University updates, and special communications from the Office of the President, etc.) * Interpret and adapt program information to manage projects that provide compelling copy and visually effective graphic design * Produce alumni newsletters and fact reports in cross-collaboration with assessment data for alumni office * Create events calendar, write descriptions, produce graphics, and manage updated event listings for alumni engagement
Stakeholder Relationship Coordination * Edit and proofread content for print and digital collateral in collaboration with Strategic Communication and Engagement * Work with Strategic Communications and IMT to produce video stories for project/event promotion and recap and the Alumni Academy * Develop and maintain sustainable filing system for produced graphic and copy materials
Miscellaneous * Supervise student interns to assist with graphic design and creating copy * Responsible for suggesting and ordering alumni engagement gear and give-aways to assist with marketing purposes * Participate on university-wide committees as needed relative to Alumni Engagement Initiatives * Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands * Office work, some lifting related to events * Requires repetitive motion and sitting at computer keyboard * Communicating via telephone and other electronic media * Meetings may require travel to various University locations as well as off-site locations
