Located on a beautiful 86-acre campus in Hamilton, Ontario, Redeemer operates under a charter from the Government of Ontario and is a member of Universities Canada (UC), the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), and the Canadian Council of Christian Charities (CCCC).
The Sports Information & Varsity Events Coordinator (SIC) oversees all Redeemer Royals home competitions and grows the Royals brand by managing a marketing, communications, and promotions plan for the Redeemer Royals varsity and campus recreation athletic programs. In addition, the SIC builds relationships with students, athletes, coaches, staff, and faculty to encourage academic, personal, and spiritual growth through the athletic program. This position works full-time hours for 10 months out of the year, from August - May with no scheduled hours or pay during the months of June and July..
Managing all Royals home competitions (scheduling major and minor officials, communicating with OCAA colleagues, game day set up and supervision, game recording and livestream, submitting game reports and statistics, ticket window set up, etc). This position requires the successful candidate to work 1-2 evenings/week and 2-4 Saturdays/month throughout the competitive season (September-November and January-March).
Managing the Royals website and virtual hall of fame (webmaster, managing content, posting stories, etc)
Managing sports information for the athletic program (posting to and monitoring Royals social media, collaborating with the Communications department, game/athlete write ups, etc)
Managing the Royals brand in regards to images, logos, videos, etc.
Tracks and maintains record of athlete and team statistical information and provides updates to the OCAA and CCAA as required
Coordinating apparel for the athletic program
Coordinating the athletic banquet
Engaging with student athletes through the varsity athlete Christian discipleship programming
Providing additional administrative support and other duties as assigned
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
Previous experience in athletics and higher education is highly desirable
Experience working with young adults
Passionate commitment to the Reformed confessional tradition and ability to clearly and effectively articulate it for a multi-denominational audience
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, Google Suite, Zoom, social media platforms
Knowledge of web content management systems (eg. Sidearm Sports)
In order to discharge the responsibilities of the SIC in accordance with the objects and purposes of Redeemer University, the SIC must have a deep-seated personal faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, be thoroughly and thoughtfully committed to the Vision and Mission of Redeemer University and its policies.
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related area to the duties listed above.
Previous related work experience (3+ years) and familiarity in working with athletes and coaches at a high performance level
