The Department of Kinesiology at Vanguard University of Southern California invites applications for an instructor position in Kinesiology to begin Fall 2021. This is a non-tenure track, term (with possibility of renewal) 9-month position. A well-qualified candidate should be able to teach Fitness Assessment and Prescription, Strength and Conditioning, Lifetime Fitness and Wellness, physical activity and other courses. The applicants must have demonstrated teaching ability including fitness-related activities (group based preferred), commitment to promoting health and wellness, and a commitment to working with and encouraging diversity.
Knowledge and ability to teach the above listed courses
The ability to assess the five components of fitness (Cardio, Musculo-skeletal strength and endurance, Flexibility, Body Composition); the ability to demonstrate athlete performance based assessments;
Engage students in the integration of faith and learning;
Teach four courses per semester/24 units per academic year;
Participate in departmental initiatives including curriculum development that is responsive to a diverse community, students’ needs and interests;
Demonstrate a commitment to encouraging and motivating positive health and exercise behaviors;
Perform other duties as assigned.
MS in Kinesiology (or related field)
Experience in college level teaching preferred and experience teaching physical activity or fitness related courses.
Possess a vibrant Christian faith, and commitment to an integration of faith and learning.
Legally eligible to work in the Unites States on hire date AND legally authorized to work in the United States for Vanguard University without sponsorship.
