Louisiana College is seeking an innovative, visionary, collaborative, enthusiastic, and student-centered leader to serve as Dean of The Ray and Dorothy Young School of Business. As the academic and administrative leader for the School of Business, the Dean provides leadership in program and curriculum development, maintains/develops successful business partnerships with the industry and community leaders, pursues the vital development of external support, oversees and manages the budget and resource allocations, maintains program accreditation, corrects and reports on assessment, and demonstrates a serious commitment to the education of business professionals and leaders. The Dean leads and executes strategic planning for the School in alignment with the College’s Strategic Plan and serves as a member of the Academic Council and Graduate Council. The Dean reports directly to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The ideal candidate should possess a record of academic, administrative, and teaching excellence, multi-disciplinary collaboration, and inclusive decision-making. The Dean must successfully engage and work well with various stakeholders – faculty, staff, students, fellow administrators, and community members – in building a vision for the College that emphasizes academic excellence. This is a tenure-track 12-month appointment that begins August 1, 2021.
The Dean plays a significant role in the future of the College, in terms of growth, academic success, and community impact. The successful candidate will be expected to have the following:
Effective supervisory practices to ensure positive relationships and the management of a School.
Principles of planning, managing, and directing a business program and program related activities.
Organizational development and administrative management abilities.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of college and system-wide infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
Knowledge and understanding of fiscal planning and budgetary management skills.
Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills and strategies in the context of a demanding and time-intensive position.
Commitment to academic excellence and the ability to work with faculty to develop, articulate, and implement a vision for the School of Business, including new graduate programs.
Ability to work effectively with alumni and members of the business community to cultivate fruitful relationships, as well as to build collaborative partnerships to advance the mission and vision of the College.
Ability to promote high-quality teaching, scholarship, service and professional activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
An earned doctorate in business or equivalent or appropriate terminal degree.
Minimum of three years academic administrative experience.
Experience in ACBSP accreditation, program evaluation, and strategic planning.
Experience in student advisement, recruitment, and retention.
Experience in securing and overseeing grants from external organizations.
Experience with graduate degree programs.
Experience in developing new academic programs, specifically graduate business programs.
Experience in creating and managing budgets.
Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills and strong organizational talents.
Possess excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, staff, other administrators, and community/school partners.
A record of excellent teaching, scholarship, and service, and eligibility for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor.
Must be a visible CHRISTIAN leader and give witness as a person who lives a life that honors the Lord Jesus Christ and is consonant with the Statement of Christian Standards of Louisiana College and the Baptist Faith.
