The Social Work Department at Azusa Pacific University seeks to prepare students for professional social work practice as demonstrated by competence in skill performance with diverse populations in a variety of settings. As a mid-sized thriving department, emphasis is on engagement with students that integrates high expectations with high support for academic success. Training focuses on a holistic approach to professional development with a goal to prepare effective generalist and advanced social work practitioners and dynamic leaders both locally and globally. Ethical integration of faith in practice, teaching, and scholarship is emphasized.
MSW Program include full-time, part-time, and advanced standing options. Teaching may include foundation and/or specialization level courses. Specialized practice options include The Community Leadership and Program Administration specialization which prepares students for macro practice in local, national, and international contexts. The Clinical Practice with Individuals and Families specialization prepares students for a range of clinically oriented practice settings.
Announcing a full-time faculty appointment with primary assignment to the Master of Social Work Program, Azusa Campus, carrying instructional and scholarship responsibilities. As our student body is reflective of the diversity of Southern California, the Department seeks to recruit faculty from diverse backgrounds, committed to excellence, a collaborative environment, and social justice. Experience in higher education and with a combination or micro and macro social work practice preferred.
Full-time faculty position in a thriving, urban, CSWE accredited Master of Social Work program. The Department of Social Work seeks candidates with experience in clinical social work practice, with emphasis on direct practice with individuals and families and strong behavioral health experience. A strong background in evidenced informed practice needed. Ability to teach across specializations desired. Experience in higher education and scholarship preferred.
Micro/clinical social work practice, and theory, research, and leadership.
Teach assigned courses based on teaching load.
Assist in student advising and mentoring, program assessment and student admissions.
Participate in department and program meetings and functions, strategic planning, special programs, and campus committees as needed.
Participation in the life of the department as well as the university is required.
Contribute to development and dissemination of scholarship and expertise.
Work at alternative Regional Campuses or Sites as indicated for role.
Level:Faculty Appointment, rank based on education and experience.
PhD or DSW required, with Master of Social Work degree from an accredited social work program.
Minimum of two years professional practice experience.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
Demonstrated potential for scholarship.
Able to communicate the ethical integrate of Christian faith in social work scholarship and practice. Basic computer skills required
University teaching experience, inter-professional collaboration, and community-based skills strongly preferred. An ability to teach across the curriculum, with specialization in area of micro social work practice desired. Demonstrated scholarship and research potential preferred.
